PressBot for Yoast SEO · 4 admin tools
PressBot reads, audits, and improves your Yoast metadata by chat. Site-level audits, AI-suggested rewrites, and Trusted Plan review — every change lands only after you approve the diff.
An agent that respects Yoast
Yoast is the editor in the post screen. PressBot is the operator across the whole site — reading, auditing, and improving the same metadata fields you already trust, but at scale.
01 / Read
Read the current Yoast title, meta description, and focus keyphrase on any post or page through chat. Audit the whole library for missing, weak, or duplicated metadata in one query.
02 / Suggest
PressBot reads the post, then proposes a new title, meta description, and focus keyphrase that match what the page actually says — tuned for AI answer engines and human search alike.
03 / Apply
Updates surface as a Trusted Plan with per-field before/after diffs. Apply the rewrites you like, restore anything you don’t, skip the ones that miss. The agent never edits without you.

The jobs people actually ask for
These are the requests we see most. Every one runs across your whole library at once, and every one shows you the changes before anything is written.
Yoast tells you a meta description is missing, one post at a time. It does not write them for you. PressBot reads the actual body of each post, drafts a description inside Google’s 155-character limit, and lists every proposed change in one table. You approve the batch, or edit individual rows first, and only then does anything touch the database.
On a 300-post site this is the difference between a week of copy-paste and about ten minutes of reviewing. Posts that already have a hand-written description are skipped unless you say otherwise.
Excerpts drive your archive pages, your search results, and often your social previews — and on most sites a large share of them are empty, so WordPress silently truncates the first 55 words mid-sentence. PressBot audits which posts have no excerpt, writes one that actually summarizes the piece, and applies them together after review.
Yoast stores its metadata in post meta keys like _yoast_wpseo_title, _yoast_wpseo_metadesc, and _yoast_wpseo_focuskw. Reading and writing them programmatically normally means a custom plugin, a REST field registration, or a WP-CLI script — and getting the sanitization right yourself.
PressBot exposes those reads and writes as typed tools instead. You can drive them by chat from the WordPress dashboard, from Telegram, or over MCP from Claude Code, Cursor, or Windsurf — the same operations, with capability checks and a review step in front of every write. If you are comfortable in the REST API, think of this as the same endpoints with the boilerplate and the guardrails already written.
One pass over the library reports what Yoast flags post by post: missing titles, descriptions that are too short or too long, duplicate metadata across pages, and posts with no focus keyphrase at all. You get a ranked list of what to fix first rather than a green light per post, and you can filter it by post type, status, or category.
The audit is read-only. Fixes are a separate, explicit step.
Bring your own key
PressBot talks straight to Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI from your server at their published rates. Suggested rewrites and audits run on the model you choose. No proxy, no markup, no third party in the loop.
Keys are AES-256-CBC encrypted with your WordPress salts. They never leave your server.
Your server talks to api.anthropic.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com, or api.openai.com directly. Nothing in the middle.
Use Claude Haiku 4.5 for cheap audits, Sonnet 5 or GPT-5.6 Terra for higher-quality rewrites. Mix providers per surface.

No. Yoast SEO must be installed and active. PressBot reads from and writes to the same Yoast meta fields you already use — SEO title, meta description, focus keyphrase. Yoast continues to do all the heavy lifting in the editor; PressBot operates on the same data across the site.
Both. The four PressBot Yoast tools work against Yoast Free metadata fields. If you have Yoast Premium, PressBot still reads and writes the same canonical fields — we don’t touch Premium-only features (multiple keyphrases, internal linking suggestions) in v1.
v1 writes are scoped to three Yoast fields per post: SEO title, meta description, and focus keyphrase. Plus the native WordPress excerpt and tags through the AI Visibility Opportunity Engine. Everything else stays read-only — PressBot never edits your post body, schema, or canonical settings.
Not silently. Every proposed change becomes a Trusted Plan with a per-field before/after diff. You apply the rewrites you like, skip the ones you don’t, and restore anything you change your mind about — one click each, with the original value preserved.
Yes. yoast_audit_posts walks every post and page (or any filtered subset) and surfaces missing, weak, duplicate, or over-stuffed Yoast meta in one report. Pair it with the AI Visibility Opportunity Engine to rank fixes by estimated GEO/AEO lift.
Yes. Wrap the audit in a Scheduled Automation and PressBot produces a dated Trusted Plan every cycle — weekly, monthly, whatever cadence fits the site. Approve in chat; the changes ship after you sign off.
