Yes. The free PressBot tier is the full visitor chatbot, on every site, forever — no credit card, no trial timer, no per-message fee, no external SaaS dashboard. The only money you spend is on your own AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or DeepSeek), at the provider's listed API rate.

For a typical small business site running on a Haiku-class or Flash-class model, the monthly token bill is usually a few dollars. Heavier-traffic sites or richer models scale that up linearly. The exact figure depends on conversation length and which model you pick — check the FAQ below for current rough ranges and your provider's pricing page for the authoritative numbers.

Free forever. The free tier is the public chatbot — including External Knowledge / RAG — and we have no plans to change that. Our paid tier (PressBot Pro) is a separate product on top: the admin agent, 99 tools, Plugin Guardian, Shield, Telegram bridge, GA4, lead capture, and the full 99-tool MCP server. The free chatbot does not depend on the paid product for any of its core features.

The catch is that you have to bring your own AI key. We do not provide a hosted model, we do not resell tokens, and we do not charge a per-message fee — which means we cannot subsidize your usage either. You sign up directly with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or DeepSeek, paste the key into PressBot, and the bot talks to that account.

For most site owners this is a feature, not a catch — you keep full control over which model you use, when you switch providers, and what conversations are logged where.

It depends on which model tier you pick and how long a typical conversation runs. The published per-token rates live on each provider's pricing page (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek) and they update those numbers regularly — we deliberately do not parrot the figures here, because they would go stale fast.

The order-of-magnitude shape: the cheap tier (Claude Haiku 4.5, Gemini 2.5 Flash / Flash Lite, GPT-5.4 mini, DeepSeek V4 Flash) is typically under a cent per visitor reply. The mid tier (Claude Sonnet 4.6, GPT-5.4, Gemini 2.5 Pro) is typically a small fraction of a cent to a couple of cents. The flagship tier (Claude Opus 4.6, GPT-5.4 Pro) is a meaningful multiple of that. Most "free WordPress chatbot" use cases work great on the cheap tier; reserve flagship spend for the admin agent in Pro.

The free chatbot supports Anthropic Claude (Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.6), OpenAI GPT (5.4 mini, 5.4, 5.4 Pro), Google Gemini (2.5 Flash Lite, 2.5 Flash, 2.5 Pro), and DeepSeek V4 Flash. Switching providers is two clicks in the WP admin. DeepSeek is wired up for the public chat only; the admin agent in Pro runs on Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google.

Yes. The free visitor surface includes WooCommerce-aware grounding — the bot can answer product, shipping, and order questions out of the box. Native Woo tools that let the bot place a refund or edit an order live in the paid Pro tier (the admin agent), but the visitor-side chat handles read-side queries on the free plan.

In your own WordPress database. There is no external SaaS dashboard holding your visitors' transcripts. If a visitor asks you to delete their data, you run a single WP-CLI command. Retention, export, and deletion are entirely your call.
