Privacy Policy

PressBot ("PressBot", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how data is handled when you use PressBot on your WordPress site. PressBot uses a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model — your data stays on your server.

Data We Collect

On Your WordPress Site

PressBot stores conversation data, lead information, and plugin settings in your WordPress database. This data never leaves your server unless you export it.

API Key Storage

Your AI provider API keys (Anthropic, Google) are encrypted using industry-standard encryption and stored in your WordPress database. Keys are never transmitted to GreenScript servers. API calls go directly from your server to the AI providers. We recommend rotating your API keys periodically as a security best practice.

Freemius License Validation

Pro users' license validation is handled by Freemius. Freemius may collect: site URL, WordPress version, PHP version, plugin version, and license key. See the Freemius Privacy Policy for full details.

Anonymous Diagnostics & Integrity Monitoring

PressBot may transmit anonymous diagnostic data to pressbot.io for quality assurance and license compliance. This data may include:

• A hashed site identifier (not your URL or domain name)
• Plugin, PHP, and WordPress version numbers
• Error type and context (if you opt in to error reporting)
• File integrity status (whether plugin files match the original distribution)

This data is non-identifiable and does not include API keys, conversation content, visitor data, or personal information. Error reporting is opt-in. File integrity monitoring is part of license compliance for Pro users, as described in our Terms of Service.

Third-Party Services

When using PressBot, your server communicates directly with:

• Anthropic API — for Claude models
• Google AI API — for Gemini models

These services have their own privacy policies. PressBot does not proxy or intercept these communications.

Cookies

PressBot does not set any cookies beyond standard WordPress cookies. The marketing website (pressbot.io) uses Google Analytics.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored in your WordPress database, you have full control. You can view, export, or delete conversation data and leads at any time. Uninstalling PressBot removes all plugin data from your database.
